Flooring wears out, and when it does, it can leave an entire room looking dated.

But just the thought of removing sticky vinyl tiles or pulling up foam backed

carpet, then picking at small pieces stuck to the subooring for hours, is enough

to make many people ignore the much-needed home repair. However, the

Dremel Multi-Max eliminates the need to spend hours scraping tile adhesive or

carpet pad off the oor and makes the project much more manageable. Before

you know it, you’ll be ready to install new ooring or refurbish the hardwood

oor you just uncovered.

• STEP ONE: Use the Dremel Multi-Max Oscillating Tool with an MM600

Rigid Scraper Blade to quickly and easily cut through the sticky adhesive

holding carpet padding or vinyl tiles down. Apply petroleum jelly or silicon

grease to the scraper blade if you’re removing strong, tacky adhesive to

keep it from gumming up the scraper blade. If you’re removing carpeting,

score it rst with a utility knife to create a seam that will allow you to roll it up

and remove it in manageable sections after it has been separated from the

suboor.

• STEP TWO: With the tool running at a medium speed, insert the blade

under a tile or seam to pry the ooring up from the suboor and cut through

the adhesive.
